 1- Something that is happening now (present continous)
                   
     - Time expressions: 
When? Now, at the moment, right now
 Ex: She’s working at the moment
2 – Plans for the future
(present continuous)
Time expressions: 
When? Tomorrow, this weekend
Ex: She’s playing tennis tomorrow
 
3.- Adverbs of manner
How?
 Ex: He is running quickly
 




PRESENT CONTINUOUS

1-  When do we use the continuous?  

 

Look at the example:

 
We use present continuous for:
a)             actions happening NOW
 
2- We use time expressions like:
    NOW, AT THE MOMENT, TODAY,...
a)             plans for the future
"Next summer he is going to the beach"
 
REMEMBER:
I am reading a book
You are reading a book
He is reading a book
I am not reading a book
You are not reading a book.
He is not reading a book.
Amreading a book?
Are you reading a book?
Is he reading a book?
 
 
2- We use time expressions like:
    Next summer, next week, this afternoon,...

ADVERBS OF MANNER
There are some adverbs that describe verbs and answer this question: HOW??
1.How is he running? 
He is running fast.
(Remember that fast doesn't change from the adjective form)
1.How are they playing?
They are playing well
(Remember “well” is irregular and it comes from the adjective “good”—“well”)
 
  
3- How are they reading?
They are reading sleepily
(Remember: Sleepy-sleepily)
 
4- How does a tortoise walk?
A tortoise walks slowly.
(Slow-slowly)
 
5.How is he talking in the cinema?
He is talking (on the phone) loudly.
(Loud-loudly)
